ambo is the latest album by frise lumière.

Developed around prepared bass as a self-contained sonic system, the album continues an ongoing exploration of resonance, vibration and the physicality of sound. Through extended playing techniques, rhythmic structures, harmonic layers and percussive textures emerge simultaneously from a single instrument, allowing composition to unfold through listening, gesture and acoustic interaction.

The term ‘ambo’ has its origins in the definition given to it by the writer Maria Gabriela Llansol, to describe two beings who, even when united, continue to maintain their singularity, growing mutually in dialogue without cancelling each other out

Bisou Genou is the first album by frise lumière, the sound art and performance project of Ludovic Gerst.

Released in 2021, the album marks the beginning of a body of work centred on prepared bass as a self-contained sonic system. Through extended playing techniques, raw acoustic textures and an attention to resonance, the instrument becomes simultaneously melodic, rhythmic and percussive, unfolding as a continuous exploration of sound, space and physical listening.

Rather than treating the bass as a conventional musical instrument, Bisou Genou approaches it as a material in itself, allowing friction, vibration and silence to become compositional elements.

Released by Tapenade Records as a limited edition on vinyl, accompanied by a handmade recycled paper envelope, a unique ceramic tile and a download code.
